We would like to say a really big thank you to Oaklands School and their pupils who have been printing our Newsletter for us for the last two years in one of their classes. Their help is invaluable to our Association and we really appreciate it.

Duke’s River
Kingcups are go! The river improvements have shown some early results. The new river shelf (mainly Riverside Walk side) was pre-planted with river–edge plants and we have seen some beautiful yellow Kingcups (Marsh Marigolds).
What’s happening in your garden?
Everything is growing like mad, including the weeds! A bit of time spent weeding now is well worth it. Hoe off annual weeds before they set seed and leave them on the ground or put them in the compost bin.
It is safe to plant out summer bedding, too, at last – but though it’s been warm watch out for late frosts.
Closure of WERFA park entrances
The annual closure of the WERFA park entrances will be on Good Friday 30th March. We do this once a year to signify the park is private property and is not a public right of way. The tape barriers can easily be slipped off at one end and returned after passing through.
Duke’s River Improvements
An event to mark completion of the work was attended by the organisers, Council leader Steve Curran, other council reps, Woodlands residents – and a busy kingfisher! We will continue to be involved in monitoring the river.

Council Elections 3 May 2018 – Don’t forget to vote!
When all is settled the local area forums will resume. We will continue to attend when needed, for matters affecting WERFA members, at the regular forums for Central Hounslow Area and Isleworth and Brentford Area
Recycling and Waste
Space Waye is fully open again for public use. For our street collection days, the council will remind operatives to stack boxes after emptying and to pick up any spilled contents.

WERFA Annual General Meeting
The AGM of the Association will be held on Wednesday 18th April at 7.30pm in the Pavilion. Any items for discussion should be put in writing and given to the Hon Secretary, 69 Woodland Gdns by April 5th. The Social Club AGM will take place afterwards. This year we will welcome members with a glass of wine or soft drink and a snack.
New in the WERFA
Park Pavilion car park improvements
Work is nearly complete on the perimeter posts to prevent unauthorised vehicle access. This has needed a lot of work and a significant investment for the future security of the Park.
As part of this the team has worked to provide extra parking spaces for Pavilion visitors who need them, especially those making deliveries or who can’t walk far. The new spaces are muddy and should if possible be avoided for now. There will be surfacing work which should improve things. As ever we all need to be observant about use of the spaces. A reminder that they are not for residents’ general use and vehicles are not allowed to park there overnight.
Recycling update from Hounslow Council
You can subscribe to the 2018/19 Garden waste service from Thursday 1 February 2018. Garden waste collections are fortnightly – not weekly. They will continue to alternate with black wheelie bin rubbish collections.
WERFA Newsletter – Is this the End?
For just over a year I have been producing the paper version WERFA Newsletter, but unfortunately, due to various commitments this is something I am no longer able to continue to do. If there are no volunteers to take this on, we will have to end the production of the Newsletter.
I would like to ask if anyone would like to help me with the paper version of the newsletter production – If so, please contact me via email at: werfa@hotmail.co.uk
Father Christmas
Father Christmas will be delivering on the Woodlands Estate as usual on Christmas Eve. As usual we are asking parents to provide a Small present themselves and there will also be a small charge of £2 per present delivered to help Father Christmas maintain his sleigh. The presents should be wrapped and clearly marked with the child’s name and address, and delivered to 69 Woodland Gardens with the fee by 23rd December. Email Shelagh at werfa@hotmail.co.uk for details.
Note for WERFA Residents regarding Parking tickets.
Residents on the estate are reminded that Hounslow Council parking enforcement staff or their contractors do tour the Woodlands Area from time to time (uninvited) and have, on occasions, issued parking tickets for various “infringements”.
Please be aware of this when parking your car.

Dogs are NOT allowed in WERFA Park
We would like to remind everyone that dogs are not allowed in the WERFA park.
Recently dog mess has been found around the park, this is not only antisocial and inconsiderate, it also poses a significant health risk to children as the faeces can lead to toxocariasis which causes serious illness and even blindness.
